The annual EEPC conference took place on 21-23 October. This was the 23rd edition and it was organised virtually for the first time.

On the first day, Marco Mensink, Director General, Cefic gave a keynote speech on the EU Green Deal. Thomas Heinzerling from Linde talked about the impact of digitization on the future operation of steam crackers and C Cheng-Guajardo from ExxonMobil gave a presentation on the serious incident at the Baytown ExxonMobil plant in 2019 related to  popcorn polymer fouling in the depropanizer tower. On the second and third days, interactive break-out sessions were organised on how the EU Green Deal could affect the future design and operation of steam crackers.

In total more than 170 delegates participated in the conference.  Next year’s conference will hopefully be an in-person conference. It is scheduled to  take place at the end of October 2021 in Marseille.
